Retinal Vein t-PA Injection Video
This video
shows the surgeons view of the left eye of a patient undergoing retinal
vein t-PA injection. The vitrectomy has been completed and the Weiss Retinal
Microcannula has been placed into the vitreous cavity through a
superior sclerotomy site. The tip of the microcannula is placed over the branch
retinal vein selected for cannulation and carefully inserted. Infusion of
t-PA is initiated, resulting in displacement of the venous blood column and
often pulsations in the arterial vessels. When infusion is halted, the microcannula
is removed and the blood column returns. Because the microcannula produces
a self-sealing wound, there is no bleeding from the puncture site.
